Il nostro Sendero (poco luminoso)

Cusco - Abancay
20/10/2001

OUR SENDERO (NOT MUTCH LUMINOUS)

Rally broke in different pieces: one part is following official way, that one difficult and terrible often theatre of Sendero Luminoso raids, that will bring the inveterate drivers to Lima coming from east. An Other part went directly to Pacific Ocean, to reach Lima coming from south. We are following the same journey but, as we could book a hotel half way, we broke our trip in three parts. Today the way was very easy, nearly 200 km. on good asphalt roads. First we arrived 4.050 m. altitude, and then we arrived in a big valley. We went up again and down through 30 km. of hairpin bends to Abancay. After a week of nearly 4.000 m. of altitude here it seems low to us but we still are 2.400 m. Zica Capristano was the first to book this hotel for us too and now he already booked a big table in the Pizzeria just in front of the hotel. The “Foreign legion” of Around the world has been reconstructed; so we usually met again with Latin people “Philippe Perez, Ricardo and Silvia Fox, Capristano with the Spanish co-driver and the Portuguese TV crew. Maria and Thomas Noor went already to Nasca. We will see them in Lima were it will finish the first leg of Inca Trail. John Brown, this failure organizer, should be there,
