Oziando nell’ombelico Inca

Cusco - Machu Picchu
19/10/2001

E’ davvero inspiegabile come abbiano fatto a portarli lassu’. Andra’ meglio in futuro.

LAZING INTO INCA NAVEL

First and total rest day in Cusco, the Inca navel. Two Hundred metres over the city there is Saqsaywaman fortress, once it was the residence of a great king “Manco Kapac”. You can see enormous granite stones; they are smooth and fitted perfectly each other. It’s absolutely incredible to think that somebody brought them there. The biggest stone is 9 x5x4 metres and its weight is 3600 tons. Corners are all rounded. There are canals, temples, towers, and the army square where each year they celebrate the Sun holiday. Well, a little Internet, some cards to write and to send, a little walk in small roads where appear nice wooden balcony. We found a Museum. Then suddenly it starts to rain and to hall and we immediately think to the roads we will go all over. We (the against-rally crews) will meet tomorrow in front of the Cathedral, we will go to Abancay (200 Km with a little gravel) Next day we will go to Nazca, less than 500 km (120 km with gravel). Rita is worried. Yesterday Machu Picchu mosquitoes bighted her. Vagabunda should be ok, they changed leaf spring that was broken in two different points. Roads are impossible ad we are too heavy (tank for 100 litres of petrol, two wheels, spares, items, oil and something else) caused the breaking off. Future will be better.
